A national search failed to produce a new UALR dean when a deal couldn't be struck with the final candidate, but the problem has been solved at home.
John DiPippa, a UALR faculty member who has been interim dean, will take the job permanently, it was announced today.
Public radio listeners probably know John as a contributor of on-air commentary. Of the sort that seems to rankle the DOG editorialists. Great news.
It is my pleasure to announce the selection of John DiPippa as the eighth dean of the William H. Bowen School of Law. As you know, John has served as interim dean since July 2008 following the resignation of Dean Charles Goldner who wanted to return to teaching at the Bowen School.
Johnís appointment as dean begins immediately and runs through June 30, 2011. We are quite fortunate to have someone of Johnís caliber to assume the schoolís deanship. He brings to this leadership role a demonstrated commitment to excellence in legal education and garners respect and strong support both within the legal community and among the Bowen Schoolís faculty and staff. I am very pleased that John has accepted this appointment and anticipate that the law school will flourish under his leadership.
