FAMU responds to scathing report on its law school

By Julian Pecquet

Florida A&M University is responding to a recent scathing report of its College of Law with vows to get the college back on track, pointing out that it has already hired new professors and has prevailed in three lawsuits filed by students.

The American Bar Association report is based on a visit to the college in October and was released recently. It outlines concerns with the college, which is in Orlando, ranging from a low rate of success at the Bar exam to infighting among faculty.

The six-year old college's fate could be decided this summer when the bar association decides what to do with the college's accreditation, which is currently provisional. If it's revoked, new students won't be able to take the Bar exam or get federal aid.
