Nursing Education Exec
Is Named BAR/BRI Head

Special to

July 10, 2011--Stephen Fredette, the former CEO of the Assessment Technology Institute, a nursing education company, has been named Executive Chairman of the BAR/BRI bar review.  His appointment coincides with the completion of the sale of BAR/BRI by West Publishing to Leeds Equity Partnership, a private equity fund, and a Brazilian company.

Mr. Fredette, who holds a BS in finance from Siena College, has extensive experience in training nurses, but is not believed to have any experience in bar-exam preparation.  His on-line biographies indicate that he is not a lawyer and did not attend law school.

This will be the first time in BAR/BRI's 40-year history that the head of the company did not attend law school, and instead came from the nursing industry.
