Probe sought in law school slight
Orange County Register

Three lawmakers have asked the state Attorney General's Office to investigate the American Bar Association's handling of Western State University College of Law's accreditation process.

State Sens. Ross Johnson and Dick Ackerman, both R-Irvine, and Assemblyman Bob Pacheco, R-Walnut, filed the complaint Tuesday. The legislators claim the bar's bias against for-profit law schools like Fullerton- based Western is behind the organization's decision to recommend denying the school's provisional accreditation. A final decision is expected in February.

A bar association committee last year rejected Western's request to extend its provisional accreditation.
