ANGELES, March 5, 2006 -- The University of West Los Angeles School of Law
has lost a key accreditation, which will take away students' eligibility for
federal financial aid.
The Western Association of Schools and Colleges voted to yank the accreditation in November, but the school appealed the decision. The association reviewed the appeal but has decided to uphold the decision.
The termination is effective June 30th, which will allow current students to complete the spring term. The school has campuses in Inglewood and Woodland Hills.
The school can remain open without the accreditation, but students will not be eligible for federal financial aid.
UWLA President Robert Brown had said that students could apply for private loans if the school lost its appeal.
